Fenty Beauty – Is it worth the hype?

When I walked into Sephora and saw the Fenty by Rihanna line was out I needed to get my hands on it. It is all everyone on the face of the planet is talking about. Now, if you haven’t heard of it, I’m shocked but it is possible. Fenty Beauty by Rihanna is a line the one and only Rihanna came out with that has 40 shades of foundation. That is a huge movement for our female, male and non gendered friends of darker complexion. The 40 shades give opportunity to create foundations for everyone who rarely fits in the usual 12 shade ranges.

I decided to go with the concealer stick knowing it’s the product I would actually use. I have Keritosis Pilaris which is a skin condition that causes bumps and red skin, otherwise known as chicken skin. I can go into this in a later post if it interests anyone. Anyways, because of the skin condition I don’t do any contour or anything fancy. I also find it sets me apart from everyone else, not that I find anything wrong with a beat face. I find it gorgeous but just not on me.

I debated between the colours Bamboo and Sand for a bit. I have a neutral undertone. I also tend to have this problem where I buy any type of foundation or concealer too light. I find it always looks darker in the bottle or in the tub. Eventually an employee came over to help me but it was just too crowded that I ended up checking on my hand. I found Sand had a very orange undertone on my skin and it would most likely oxidize on my face as orange. Yeah, no thanks. So I went with Bamboo.

My first impression, just by putting it on my hand was that it was creamy but not so thick that it would be hard to blend or feel heavy. The box claims that the product is air light which I will give them props for. It feels so light weight, that I barley feel like I have anything on my face. I love that feeling. When I feel thick and cakey I can not deal. I find a lot of people are like that though or at least most of the girlfriends I talk to.

It also felt and applied high quality. I have used plenty of concealer sticks in my life time and this one is one of the first high quality ones that I have used and there is for sure a different. I just love how it feels on my skin. It’s soft and velvety. I just feels amazing. I guarantee you will love the feel of it if you’re into soft products.

The only con I had for the concealer is that it doesn’t have as much coverage as I would love. It covers the redness on my face but not pimples. I have amazing skin for the most part, yes I am boasting. I think because of my KP on my cheeks I have a hard time getting pimples anywhere else on my face. The big exception is hormonal pimples. I get one or two when my period is due. I think this was more of a disappointment that I made for myself because I assumed it would be full coverage when it seems to be a known fact that it isn’t.

The application was fantastic. It was easy to blend. I used my own brushes and it looked air-brushed. I can not stop raving about it.

I was told by the Sephora employee that the concealer is very trying on people with dry skin. I have oily skin so I was not worried. After 4 hours of wear my typical spots on my face that get shinny were for sure shinny. I just had to blot to bring it back to it’s normal matte finish.

A little side note that is extremely important to me is that Fenty Beauty is cruelty free. I am a huge supporter of cruelty free and vegan brands. (Fenty is not Vegan!!!) No animal deserves to be tortured just for us to have paint to put on our faces.

All in all, I found this concealer awesome. It’s definitely going to be my go to be my go to from now on. I’m for sure pleased. I can’t wait to try more things from the collection.
